Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 June 2026

StudyBuddy (“we”, “us”) is an Indian ed-tech service that helps students practise board-pattern papers and get their handwritten answers evaluated by AI. Because most of our users are minors, this policy is written to be aware of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and treats the guardian as the consenting party for students under 18.

1. What we collect

  • Student email — to identify the account and send essential service messages.
  • Guardian / parent email — to obtain and record consent and to enable parental access.
  • Board, standard and stream (e.g. GSEB, Std 10) — to generate the right papers.
  • Generated practice papers and your attempts at them.
  • Uploaded answer-sheet images and the text transcriptions we derive from them.
  • Evaluation results — per-question marks, mistakes, weak topics and progress over time.
  • Basic technical data — minimal logs needed to keep the service secure and working.

We do not ask for unnecessary personal data, and we do not collect more than we need to deliver evaluations and progress tracking.

2. Why we use it and our lawful basis

We process this data to provide the service you ask for: generating papers, reading and grading your handwritten answers, showing feedback, and tracking weak topics so the next paper is more useful. For students under 18, our lawful basis is verifiable guardian consent, captured at signup. Adults consent on their own behalf. We rely on consent and on the necessity of processing to perform the service.

3. Uploaded answer sheets

Your uploaded answer-sheet images are stored so we can transcribe and evaluate them, and so you (and your guardian) can revisit the feedback later. These images are used only to provide and improve your evaluation experience. You can ask us to delete any individual answer sheet, or all of them, at any time, and we will remove the images and their transcriptions.

4. No ad-targeting of children

We do notuse children's data for behavioural advertising, profiling for ads, or tracking across other sites. We do not sell personal data. We do not show third-party behavioural ads to student accounts.

5. Retention

We keep your account data and evaluation history for as long as your account is active so you can see your progress. Uploaded answer-sheet images are retained while they remain useful for your feedback and are deleted on request. If you delete your account, we erase your personal data and uploaded images within 30 days, except where law requires us to keep limited records (for example, GST/tax records for paid invoices).

6. Guardian and student rights

Under the DPDP Act you (or the guardian, for a minor) may:

  • Access the personal data we hold about the student.
  • Correct inaccurate data, such as board, standard or email.
  • Erase the data, including uploaded answer sheets and the whole account.
  • Withdraw consent, after which we stop processing and delete accordingly.
  • Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (contact below).

7. Data location and sharing

Your data is stored on servers we operate in India. To grade handwritten answers we use AI models; only the content needed for evaluation (answer-sheet images and transcriptions) is sent to that processing step, under agreements that prohibit using your data to target ads. We do not sell your data and we share it only with processors strictly necessary to run the service (for example, our payment provider for Pro purchases).

8. Security

We use access controls, encrypted transport, and per-account isolation so one student cannot read another's attempts. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to children's data.

9. Contact

For privacy questions, access/erasure requests, or to reach our Grievance Officer, email hello@aiskillhub.info. We respond to verified requests within the timelines required by the DPDP Act.
